Setting up Sunday happenings at the house; I’ve been mentioning a few ideas I’ve wanted to see started for a while and need to move on.
Black Boot Company will start regularly hosting newcomer gatherings, both for general support and education as well as targeted project days to help with getting started in the SCA. I don’t know if this will be once a month, every other week or what, but whatever else is going on at the house on Sundays, newcomers – and those who want to support newcomers – are welcome.
To get me cooking more medieval food more often, I’ll be doing a weekly cooking session. I might stream it, if there’s interest; I don’t expect that to be a huge draw in person, but it’s a goal I want to do (in addition to a similar, non-medieval weekly cooking effort to broaden my skills and knowledge).
Lastly, if people are around for either of those activities or want to ignore either of those activities, there’ll be gaming 🙂 Board games, LAN games, whatever.
I also intend to run/host up to two RPGs. I know that scheduling is rough, so these may not happen on Sundays and one may happen online, though I’d prefer at least one to be in-person.
Why two? Well, one’s making sure I get what I want 😉 The other will be up to the interested players. I will not, however, be running D&D, partially because of lack of books but actually because I won’t 😉
I will gladly run fantasy, mind you, just not D&D.
If someone else wants to run D&D, I may play, but if I can only get one thing going, it’ll be sci-fi. Fantasy if we have interest, D&D if someone else is running it 😉
Depending on interest in roleplaying, putting a group together might be easy or I might need to see who can do which days and whether online or in-person. I’m fine with both – I ran and played online RPGs long before Roll20 or the like ever happened – but in-person is way better, if it can happen. I understand it can’t always be a thing.
So there’s all of that. I’ll be here doing stuff on Sundays, then, no matter what – save for trips to NYS or NYC or camping event weekends or the like. This is the notice of an open invitation, because there’s no way I can reasonably remind everyone every time (or, well, I figure no one wants constant reminders that way).
If particular activities interest you, say so, and I’ll see what can be done about being more deliberate in terms of communicating when each is happening, but the long and short of it is: if it’s a Sunday and I haven’t said it’s not happening for a reason? It’s on 😉 If you have requests, too, say so, though I can’t guarantee anything sight unseen 😉
